Bambole Dance Company take daily class and some of the dancers share the task of teaching.

The class varies – mostly contemporary dance, but occasionally ballet barre to begin the day. The ballerinas Belinda and Shannon always make sure that they do a full ballet workout every day to keep in top form.

Tina sometimes teaches at Sons of Jack Lane Community Centre which is where Susannah was taking classes. Now Bambole have lots of other young dancers joining in their intermediate class in Mossy Well.

Tina is the main company teacher. But Tony Chaumier also gives company class sometimes. He does more choreography so although he will sometimes teach class to try out his new choreography – he likes to save his creative work for rehearsals.  Bambole Dance Company engage guest teachers when they can. Lily Zander who is American, is a very popular teacher when she guests. Lily lives in the US so her teaching is a rare treat for the dancers in Mossy Well.

Patrizia Solaio teaches ballet class sometimes and also assisted the dancers with “Percy’s Garden”. They were struggling with some of the choreography – getting it to fit the music was a challenge for them.  Patrizia knew just how to get the best out of the dancers. Her work ensured that the dance was performed very well.

Bambole Dance Company Rehearsals

The dancers rehearse for a number of weeks to produce new works. Each programme features choreography by resident choreographer Tony Chaumier and by director Tina Giuffre.

Rehearsals take place in  Il Santo Pietro il Povero – a church hall in Mossy Well.

The dancers often cycle to rehearsal and on occasion after work is finished for the day, call in at the real ale bar on route home. Rehearsals are tiring and choreographers find it even more draining. So a bit of relaxation at the end of the week’s rehearsal is welcome.
